Shriners Hospitals for Children began in 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana and expanded to twenty-two hospitals in the United States, Mexico and Canada. They are a one-of-a-kind pediatric hospital system dedicated to improving the lives of children through state of the art care for *spinal cord injuries *burns *cleft lip/palate and * orthopedics. Shriners Hospitals for Children Is A Qualified 501 (C)3 Nonprofit Organization and all services are provided regardless of the patients' ability to pay.
Shiners Hospitals for Children - Tampa will receive the net proceeds from THE RIDE. It provides the full spectrum of the orthopedic care, servicing 17,000 children a year. Because of its 501 (c)3 status, it relies heavily on donations from Shriners and the public to continue. That is why we, the Bahia Shrine, use no paid employees for the ride, teaming with volunteers and Sam Swope, our benefactor, to raise funds.
