Sam Swope was a 50 year + Shriner and motorcycle rider. He began his sponsorship of THE RIDE in 2009. Through his generosity and that of riders, businesses, corporate donations and volunteers, the Bahia Shrine has raised over $800,000. Sam's commitment for THE RIDE was to match what we raised up to $100,000!
The passing of Sam Swope is a loss for all of us especially the children who benefitted from Sam’s immense generosity.
Zavier Gonzales is but one of the million+ children who have been treated by the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Born with a little foot that only had three toes and nearly no ankle, Zavier underwent the amputation of his foot at eight months of age at the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Tampa. Now fitted with a prosthesis, Zavier is able to perform the activities of a 2 1/2 year old.
